Electrostatic paint

In early 2024, Produits Métalliques Bussières inaugurated its new electrostatic painting department.

The first step in this process is to clean the part of any contaminants and allow it to dry. Next, a negative electrical charge is applied to the part by the support holding it. Adhesion is achieved by spraying positively-charged powder paint with a spray gun. This method guarantees uniform coverage of the product and eliminates the risk of drips. Finally, the parts are fed into one of our specialized ovens. These can heat to temperatures in excess of 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This baking step allows the powder paint to cook and harden. This results in a high-quality finish and offers long-lasting protection against wear and corrosion.

Electrostatic painting offers many advantages over traditional painting methods. One of these is the absence of solvents in the process, thus reducing emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This has a positive impact on the environment, on air quality in our facilities and, by the same token, on the health of our employees. Since our expansion, we have been recycling rainwater to wash the parts mentioned in the first stage of the process. We are also equipped with a heat recovery system for our baking ovens. This enables us to dry our parts and heat our plant, if necessary. For PMB, the paint department is a source of pride for our ecological footprint and industrial production.

In conclusion, this department reflects our commitment to sustainable, ecological and innovative practices!
